I wanted to share some highlights from a recent engagement shoot I did in Norfolk, VA with Teona and Chris. The photos were very editorial and documentary, which is what the couple desired and the reason they hired me. It’s exciting when you start drawing the right clientele! The setting was the Slover Library, an architectural gem with towering pillars, artistic staircases, and rows of books that helped add a touch of romance and elegance to the shots. I’ve had this place on my list of locations, so I was happy to hear when it was a part of Teona’s vision! Location is very important in a photoshoot.
I was joined by my friend Melissa, a talented videographer who documented the behind the scenes that added an extra layer of storytelling to the day. (View her video here: https://www.instagram.com/reel/C5uFiduJYsA/
Teona and Chris were fantastic to work with—beautiful, fun, and clearly very much in love. Also, they they did an excellent job with their choice of wardrobe!! We started inside the library, taking advantage of its unique features. I captured intimate moments by the bookshelves and used the dramatic staircase for some artistic shots capturing some beautiful ceilings in the background. The couple was incredibly photogenic, making my job a whole lot easier. They seemed to be having as much fun as we were – that’s always a good sign!
Later, we headed outside to the courthouse area. This also provided a great backdrop. It was extremely windy, but we worked with it!
Overall, the photoshoot was a win, and I was very happy with the outcome. If you’d like to see some of the photos from the day, I’ve shared a few of my favorites below.
