A “Vogue-like” Engagement Shoot at The Villa in VA Beach
As a wedding photographer in Norfolk, VA, I’m always excited to capture love stories in beautiful settings. Location matters! Recently, I had the pleasure of shooting an engagement session at The Villa in Virginia Beach, a location that perfectly encapsulated the couple’s vision for their photos.
The Villa’s owner was incredibly personable and welcoming, making the experience easy going and delightful (highly recommend). The bride-to-be rented out the space, and it couldn’t have been a better fit for the style she was aiming for. With its elegant charm and versatile backdrops, The Villa provided the perfect setting for an editorial yet fun and candid shoot. With its grand entrance and sweeping archways, it felt like walking into a Mediterranean experience. We took advantage of the handmade Satillo tiles and their private courtyard.
The bride brought three outfits, and requested a 3 hour photoshoot. We were able to seamlessly transition between looks, capturing a variety of poses with different approaches. Her sister was also there, adding to the fun by taking some behind-the-scenes video.
From the editorial poses to the spontaneous, candid moments I felt like I was able to draw out their personalities. It’s funny the things you take a way from the experience. The bride to be really wanted to nail down this running shot. Needless to say, there was a little bit of a cardio workout involved (lol) but we got the shot! I love it when the couple is up for whatever it takes to get the perfect photo! I can’t wait to see what their wedding day will bring!
