INTRO
DNA Studios brings an editorial documentary style to wedding photography. We combine narrative candid storytelling with the aesthetic elements of editorial, crafting clean, posed images that incorporate fashion and direction. Today, I’m thrilled to share about a wedding that features more of a VINTAGE editorial photography style. Delivering a fresh and personable touch to each wedding is something we love to give couples! We show up to their day ready to artistically bring their vision to life. For us this means purposing to approach and create images that are unique to each couple’s story and priorities. The newlyweds Mr. & Mrs. Snipes sought after vintage-inspired photography. It was our first wedding of the year held on Mother’s Day, and the celebration was beautiful intimate.
RECAP
Reagan, the bride, prepared at her friend’s charming house in Portsmouth where the ceremony also took place in the backyard, surrounded by close family and friends.
The bridal party was easy to become friends with. Their personalities added to the fun and relaxed vibe of the day. The bride’s vision for vintage-inspired photos was brought to life through both editing and a photography trick: using pantyhose over the lens to achieve that dreamy, nostalgic effect. Throughout the day, I switched between a couple different lenses to capture a variety of shots. We ventured out to take photos by the water and near some picturesque hedges on the neighborhood street. Both locations worked out to be great backdrops.
The reception was held at The Sly Fox at New River Tap House https://vb.slyfoxspeakeasy.com/WebPage.php a cool venue with a speakeasy vibe that perfectly complemented the day’s aesthetic. Guests enjoyed the unique atmosphere as they celebrated the newlyweds.
CONCLUSION
This Norfolk wedding was truly special. It’s an honor to accompany couples on their journey to unity and to document their love story through this creative outlet. Check out some of their photos below!
