As a Virginia couples photographer specializing in engagements and weddings, I’m always looking for opportunities to sharpen my craft. So, when my sister and brother-in-law came into town, we decided to have some fun with an impromptu photoshoot.
I’ve been wanting to do a session at a tennis court for a while—the clean lines, bold colors, and open space create the perfect backdrop for an unconventional and editorial vibe. We headed to a court in Ghent, but first, we hit up a few local thrift stores, including Thrift Store USA, Thrift Store City, and Nomads Clothing Exchange. We scored some fun finds, and my husband even jumped in to help style Demi.
Despite the cold weather, it was worth it. We experimented with different posing, embraced the harsh natural light, and played with some motion. I thought their outfits and the court’s colors and strong lines made for a striking visual.
